Anthropogenic safety

An equally important area of research is the prevention and minimisation of the effects of industrial disasters on activities in the Zone and beyond. Fires, floods, squall winds are a serious threat to human activity and the safety of radioactive materials there.

The development and implementation of modern means of prevention and early identification of extraordinary events of anthropogenic nature is an important component of the safe conditions for the existence of the Zone.

Anthropogenic safety research directions:

  • Influence of human-caused events on the operation of industrial and radioactive waste management facilities in the Zone.
  • Monitoring of changes in the anthropogenic conditions within the Zone, which is still a serious threat to surrounding territories.

These studies are required to improve the existing methods of early detection, prevention, and minimisation of the effects of human-caused incidents.
